Currently based in London, the captivating, charismatic and multi-instrumentalist songstress, composer and workshop facilitator; Shauna Tohill is one of the most promising young artists to come out Northern Ireland and is rapidly making a name for herself throughout the industry.
Songstress / Performer
As a writer/performer, Shauna’s style and taste is varied and so it has allowed her to achieve a cross-over between many different genres of music; from acoustic and electro music to hard rock and metal. Although – she does tend to lean towards high energy alternative rock/pop music and writes a killer hook!
Her current outlet for this style is her band, REWS – a very dynamic and high energy female duo act alongside drummer and backing vocalist Collette Williams.
In the two years she (as previous synomon ‘Silhouette‘) has supported big artists such as Blondie, Imelda May, One Republic and Jake Bugg as well as playing at various big summer festivals including the likes of V Festival, Kendal Calling and Electric Picnic.
Session Musician
As a session musician, Shauna has played bass and sang with various artists including the fantastic Darwin Deez, Basia Bulat and RAMS’ Pocket Radio (for whom she also acted as tour manager). However, her most accomplish session work was her work with Snow Patrol where she performed as a guest vocalist at the MTV EMA’s and the Q Awards followed by an entire European tour 2013. Shauna has also been involved in recording sessions for backing vocals, bass, guitar and piano for various other artists and bands including Alana Henderson (Hozier Cellist), Cat Malojian and Mojo Fury.
Composing / Syncs
Shauna has seen great success in her career so far. Her most noted sync was with her song ‘Can’t Keep Up’ which was used as the Northern Irish Tourism Advertising anthem throughout the years of 2012 to 2014. She since then has been commissioned to write specifically for various campaigns such as Mencap Charity ‘Big Step Forward’ fundraising appeal and 3 songs for an independent horror movie, ‘Noirland’, which is currently on tour throughout the UK.
Workshop Leader / Vocal Coach
As a workshop leader / vocal coach, Shauna has over 9 years of experience specialising in vocals and songwriting courses. She delivers these to a range of age groups and both one-to-one and group sessions. Her most recent work was with Oh Yeah Centre, Belfast, Womans Work Project in early 2017 and she will be delivering guest tutor sessions at BIMM Brighton Music school 2017. She has done a lot of work with Glasgowbury Music Group and MADD Music Enterprises Ltd on their summer youth talent camps.
Shauna is currently working on REWS and their upcoming debut album. She is also compiling her solo songwriting material to put together for syncs and will carry out various workshops throughout UK and Ireland.
